IFSC Code is a unique 11-digit code that can be used to transfer funds through NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS. It stands for Indian Financial System Code, a combination of Numbers and alphabets, each set describing some details about the bank branch. There are over 1.5 Lakh+ branches in India, and each branch has its own IFSC code. IFSC Code is assigned by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which facilitates the customer by making it easier for the clearing office to locate the bank.
IFSC Code can be seen in the following locations-
Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) is an electronic fund transfer service operated by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and supported by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). You can instantly transfer funds between your bank accounts using IMPS.
IMPS is a 24-hour service available on all days, including holidays. The number one reason that people leave their bank is the fees associated with it. Charges may apply and vary if you've got an account at a local bank. The minimum and maximum transaction limits will change according to banks. This is the easiest way to transfer funds between accounts because the money transfers are processed through IMPS.
The only downside to the fund transfer is it’s an immediate payment service, so you cannot stop it once initiated. Funds can be transferred using the beneficiary's Mobile Money Identifier (MMID) and/or mobile number or using the account number and IFSC code. Using the respective bank's mobile app, you can instantly transfer funds to your account anytime.
The National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) is an online fund transfer system supported by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). With NEFT, you can transfer funds from one bank account to another bank account. In Neft, the transaction settlement is deferred to a later date, which results in transactions being settled in batches.
You can also transfer funds online from your bank account using an internet banking service. There is no upper or lower limit on the number of NEFT transactions you can make.
In that case, the maximum transaction would be limited to Rs. 5,0000 per transaction. The fee varies based on the number of transfers. NEFT is excellent for transferring small amounts of money between bank accounts. It's also a fast way to transfer large amounts of money. To transfer funds through NEFT, the remitter should know the beneficiary’s name and account number. NEFT is the national electronic funds transfer system used by all public sector banks in India. The funds will be sent to the beneficiary’s account within two days.
A Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) electronic fund transfer system allows banks to transfer funds from one account to another electronically.
You can quickly transfer funds through RTGS by using the internet banking facility. The RTGS (real-time gross settlement) transactions are mainly settled in real-time. The funds will be transferred into the beneficiary’s account in 30 minutes.
The minimum amount that can be transferred through RTGS is Rs. 2 lakhs, and there is no maximum limit. A fund transfer requires that the recipient be named and the recipient’s bank if he/she is not an existing client. Both the banks where the remitter and the beneficiary have their accounts should contain an RTGS facility to make RTGS transactions.
It is a regulated system, and hence, the transaction cannot be changed or canceled by the RBI. Therefore, it is a final system. Depending on the transaction amount, the remitter will be applied some fees. It’s not just for large amounts of transactions; it’s also for small ones. RTGS service will only be available on working days.
Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) codes create magnetic ink characters representing bank account numbers. MICR code is a unique 9-digit code allocated by the Reserve of India (RBI) to the bank branches in India contributing to the Electronic Clearing System (ECS).
The MICR code is always printed on the bottom of the check when you write a check. It helps you to process the check quickly. To find out your bank codes, you’ll need to enter your account number and find the last three digits under Account Balance and Credit Card Information. With this code, machines can process cheques more efficiently, resulting in fewer errors.
MICR is mandatory for online fund transfers. When the MICR code is printed with magnetic ink, it can easily be read by the machine, so there are no mistakes.
Use an online MICR code finder to quickly locate the MICR code for your bank account.
To find the MICR code, provide your bank's name, state, district, and branch. Your bank branch should include your account number and address in its mailing list to send you important notifications.
